As Mission Critical Engineerin I was entrusted with the responsibility of designing, building, and supporting infrastructure and applications that run Schuberg's customers’ critical business processes. Motivated by my Front-end background, I planted the seeds for the creation of a Mission Critical User Experience business unit
During 2 years, I worked as Front-end Tech Lead for Mission Critical Applications at the Netherlands Loodswezen. This means I maintained, architected and implemented web applications used by the Dutch Pilots in Rotterdam (Nederlands Loodswezen). This role allowed me to leverage my expertise in web technologies to ensure the smooth operation of critical business processes.
The questions that shaped my role
What are the best practices when architecting and implementing mission-critical applications? How can we leverage the latest web technologies to improve our service offering for mission-critical systems? What is the experience of mission-critical system operators and how can we make it seamless?
Connecting people and knowledge
In addition to my technical responsibilities, I was involved in multiple internal communication initiatives. I started an internal news podcast to keep all Mission Critical Engineers up-to-date on the goings-on in our technical teams, a public podcast to share our impressions from AWS re:invent 2018, and different sessions aimed at fostering a culture of collaboration and organizational learning.
